Marketmore has to be the saving grace for large slicer cucumbers. Very dark, large 8” or longer, this now famous heirloom from Cornell University, is adapted for Southern states. Reliable for the market, and easy for home gardens. Marketmore is a heavy producer, developing large durable vines, encroaching on space with its large leaves. Naturally, this open pollinated cuke has a vigorous, single leader vine. Deemed a slicer for salads, girthy 1.5”-2.5” remain flavorful at large sizes. Smaller cucumbers remain tender and crisp. Refreshing, with a tasteful texture, mildly sweet and melon like. Marketmore is well known for disease and pest resistance, yielding heavily without pollination. Especially durable in heavy downy mildew pressure. Market garden production is difficult to maintain consistency, so Marketmore is a life saver when times are tough, and the weather is rough, this fantastic cucumber still produces when challenges hit the farm. Tall, strong trellis, and cages are highly recommended, and avoid planting this gargantuan close together for maximum production.
